The 2019 Staff Brewing Competition at UC Davis, held on April 19, 2019, featured three brewing categories. American Pale Ales, and Sours were judged according to BJCP style guidelines and compared in a side-by-side final tasting to select Best of Show. In addition to the APA and Sour categories, was the return of the cider.

For the first year, the 2019 competition sold out in advance of tasting event with 200 registered attendees, 20 brewing submissions, and 12 unique teams.
